X007S - SUNDOWN
Andrews newest body of work observes obsession, apathy and conflict. The paintings were executed using golden hour light as metaphor for twilight times. The beginning or the end - depending on your perspective. The term sundowning is also used for patients with dementia describing the time near sundown when those afflicted begin to experience restlessness, irritability, confusion and agitation.
We seem to be suffering from a cultural sundowning.
Andrew Smenos is a New York-based artist and curator.
The reception for SUNDOWN is DECEMBER 3rd, from 6PM to 9PM at Canvas.
